Ceramics Final Project
Create a hand-built ceramics piece that is
functional (utilitarian) but also decorative (aesthetic) in that it looks like another object and will be glaze fired. Some examples include: a tea cup that looks like a flower a bowl that looks like a tire a vase that looks like a castle a candle holder that looks like a spider web Procedure: Create a sketch of the planned piece. (This will include ideas for glazing the piece.) Use as many of the methods you have learned including, score & slip, coil, slab, pinch, affixing pieces or texturizing. Know when to cover tightly or loosely. If it dries out, figure it. All parts of the piece should dry at the same rate—you can’t affix plastic clay to leather-hard clay.
