Public Art
Homecoming PostersStudents design posters for homecoming using their knowledge of the elements of art. They learn how to apply the elements to basic design and how to cite them to support critiques. Students learn how to use on-line documents for photo references and design ideas.
This is their first major project, and there is some pressure put on them knowing that they will be hung at a public event.

Doorway DecoratingThis is done in conjunction with Halloween on which the school is open for trick-or-treaters who come around to the classrooms to receive candy. Teachers “hire” student groups to complete this task based on their specifications. Student groups meet with their “clients” throughout the process. Upon completion, teachers provide feedback/evaluation of their experience with their designers.

Client Survey and AssessmentTeachers who served as "clients" to the student groups complete this form as part of the overall assessment.
